X-Men Unleashes the Complete Power of a Fan-Favorite Generation X Mutant

Living openly as a mutant has never been an light feat in the Marvel universe. Those who possess the X-gene are in unchanging danger of the normalized bigotry of humans, being hunted by murderous Sentinel robots, stalked by psionic parasites, or getting kidnapped by supervillains to be used as tools for their nefarious agendas.

Luckily for mutants, the same superhuman powers responsible for their ostracization from humanity can be wielded as weapons against those who would oppress them. After being position through a particularly bad day by agents of Advanced Idea Mechanics (A.I.M.), the fan-favorite X-Man Jonothan Even Starsmore, AKA Chamber, takes the time to remind A.I.M. how powerful he can be when he gets angry.

  • Jonothan “Jono” Starsmore is an X-Men affiliated mutant from Marvel comics first introduced in A native of London and explicitly related to the grunge scene, Jono has always been the pinnacle of the “bad boy with a heart of gold” trope- the only difference creature that in place of a heart he has a furnace of psionic energy. Jono is top known for being part of Generation X (the team he was introduced with) but has also been an official member of the X-Men. The manifestation of his powers left him disfigured and destroyed many of his internal organs as adv as his jaw, exiting him unable to talk verbally, requiring him to utilize his psionic abilities to communicate telepathically. Jono’s story chronicles one of self-acceptance and is one I’d highly recommend!

    In a preview of the upcoming Weapon X-Men #4, Cable efforts to reassure Jono Starsmore's Chamber that he belongs with this new team. In a meta moment, Jono calls out the many different roles he's played in the X-Men franchise, and the fact that none of them have had any staying power, yelling, "Look - I've been around! Been a student! Been a bloody X-Man! An' it never worked out for me! I'm not gonna obtain my hopes up!"

    Jonothon Starsmore grew up as a normal, happy, English male child, his life made unusual only by his nuts old great-grandfather,  Jack Starsmore. The old man insisted his grandson be tattooed on his chest in the tradition of Clan Akkaba and sometimes disturbed young Jonothon with his tales of their ancestral lineage to a living god named En Sabah Nur. Jono grew up in London and in his late teens, got himself a girl named Gayle Edgerton and developed an interest in tune and Goth culture. One night at a party, Jono arranged for he and Gayle to be left alone in the coatcheck room, where he planned on making cherish to her for the first time. Unfortunately, his mutant power chose that moment to burst forth, and its first manifestation blew away the drop half of his deal with and the upper part of his chest. The devastating blast left Gayle gravely injured and she ended up in a wheelchair as a result.

    Ashamed, Jono left. A normal life was no longer possible for him, as he no longer could eat, drink, or respire and was kept alive by the furnace of psionic energy w
