'Lightyear' star Chris Evans calls critics of on-screen inclusion 'idiots'
Walt Disney Co's modern animated Pixar movie "Lightyear" features a gay couple, the latest step by the company to display traditionally under-represented groups on the big screen.
Actor Chris Evans, who voices the main character in "Lightyear," applauded moves to mirror all types of people and said those who react negatively should be disregarded. "The real correctness is those people are idiots," Evans said in an interview with Reuters Television ahead of the debut of "Lightyear" in theaters on Friday.
"Every day there's been social advancement as we wake up, the American story, the human story is one of constant social awakening and growth and that's what makes us good," he added. "Lightyear" was banned in the Combined Arab Emirates because it depicts homosexuality, and Disney has been unable to secure permission to reveal the movie in 13 other Middle Eastern and Asian countries.

In a shocking turn of events, the sequel to the runaway hit Tangled, is actually 2D-animated! It premiered on Disney Channel and serves as a pilot to the TV series. The story takes place BEFORE Rapunzel gets married in the animated short Tangled Ever After, but AFTER the events of the original film. Rapunzel is disillusioned by royal existence and feels like she’s moved from one metaphorical cage to another. There are some funny moments, a plot twist or two, and some amazing new characters like Cassandra, Rapunzel's bad bitch lady-in-waiting! The animation is a little advert-like, but it's still very good, although Flynn is sadly not as hot as in the first film.
I'll also say that the Lady Caine revenge plot is not handled in the best way, and IMO doesn't portray the operational classes well at all.
