We went to the opening party for the Marilyn Monroe Exhibit this week at the Hollywood Museum. The museum is in the iconic Max Factor building, where Marilyn became a blonde & Lucy became a redhead! The exhibit is to honor not only Marilyn's birthday, but also the 50th anniversary of her passing. If you've never been to the Hollywood Museum (which I'm embarrassed to admit I hadn't) RUN, don't walk! The museum is positively huge, full of costumes, props, photographs & memorabilia. The Marilyn Exhibit will be there from June 1- September 2nd. Photographer George Barris was at the party with some of his never before seen pictures of Marilyn on display.
The exhibit has everything from Marilyn's costumes, to her actual refrigerator.
Also on show are the Marilyn costumes from the hit series Smash. For those interested in party nourishment details, they were top notch! Caviar, shrimp, a mashed potato bar, champagne & tequila bars & an entire floor for desserts!
They also had "themed" cocktails. I tried the 'Happy Birthday Mr. President': 2 oz Akvinta Vodka, 1/2 oz Campari,

&#;I worried about being a parent long before I became one.&#;

Rebecca Asher&#;s article (a short excerpt from her book) in the other weekend&#;s Guardian reads enjoy a chilling, cautionary tale of motherhood. Despite the fact that she loved her son, &#;the self-determination, sense of recognition and daily purpose that I&#;d been used to gave way to gruelling, unacknowledged servitude. My life became unrecognisable to me.&#;

A familiar story &#; beneath the Hallmark version of parenthood &#; is just how exhausting, and boring, and demanding, and never-ending it is. And in Asher&#;s case, it&#;s the complete of an (illusory?) equality between her and her and her partner &#; he goes back to work, where he&#;s respected as an achiever in the way that carers rarely are, and has a range of experiences, and adult company, and she is left holding the baby.

Witchful Thinking

Murphy was two years-old when she first portrayed the little witch who lived at Morning Glory Circle.  Her twin, Diane, was used for long shots and eventually became Erin's understudy.  At that time, Tabitha was the most anticipated TV baby to enter, second only to Little Ricky on I Love Lucy.  She fit right in with a smorgasbord of wacky relatives and an extended family that included Endora (Agnes Moorehead), Uncle Arthur (Paul Lind), Aunt Clara, Gladys Kravitz, and Dr. Bombay.

Today, Erin has a big family of her own.  She has six boys—yes, you interpret it correctly—ranging in age from three to twenty-one, four dogs, and get this: Her husband's name is Darrin.  Oh my stars!  As a concerned mother, Murphy has long been an active membe
